Overview of the Workplace English Language and Literacy Programme (WELL)
The Workplace English Language and Literacy Programme (WELL) is an initiative of the Australian Government. The main objective of WELL is to provide funding to up-skill employee’s English language, literacy and numeracy skills.
Funding is available for three types of WELL Projects.
Training Projects
Funding for WELL Training Projects is provided to Training for Work in conjunction with employers to enable the up-skilling of the employer’s workforce in English language, literacy and numeracy skills together with relevant industry specific vocational skills.
Resource Projects
Funding for WELL Resources is available for the development and trialing of:
- Training materials designed to enhance language, literacy and numeracy skills that are aligned with endorsed Training Packages;
- Industry relevant language, literacy and numeracy assessment and reporting methods; and
- Professional development resources for industry trainers/assessors aligned with Training Packages.
Strategic Projects
WELL funding is available for projects that have national scope and involve strategic activities to support ongoing and cost effective workplace English, language, literacy and numeracy training across one or more industry sectors.
